Park Ridge (Ill.) class of 2027 quarterback Jameson Purcell visited Notre Dame for the dominant win over Pittsburgh. The 6-2, 181-pounder, who already picked up offers from Auburn, Ole Miss, UAB, USF and Western Kentucky, is also being closely evaluated by Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, USC and many others.

Following his time in South Bend, Irish Illustrated and 247Sports spoke with Purcell about his recent trip to Notre Dame.

On the Notre Dame visit for the Pitt game: I always love visiting Notre Dame. I have been going to games with my grandpa since I was little and now am getting to visit as a recruit. It’s really special. This was my third visit to campus. It’s a great atmosphere, and the culture and traditions are awesome. This game day experience was amazing. Definitely meeting coach Bowden and coach Guidugli, and watching pregame were the highlights. The food was also pretty fantastic.”

On the performance of the Fighting Irish: “Overall, the Irish played a great game. They were efficient on offense, moving the ball, and I always look up to Sam Hartman. His leadership and accuracy are always impressive. I follow him, as we have both worked with the trainers at 3DQB out in SoCal. ”

On the environment inside Notre Dame Stadium: “The atmosphere was so electric. but I feel like Notre Dame fans are always hyped up and ready for game day. The Irish fans are some of the most loyal fans around and I think it’s so cool that there are generations of families and fans that follow them.”

On connecting with the Notre Dame staff: “I was able to spend some time with both Director of Recruiting Chad Bowden and quarterbacks coach Guidugli. Chad made it a point to let me know how important it is at Notre Dame to be a student-athlete and not just an athlete. Coach Guidugli and I talked about my high school playoffs, as well as how Sam Hartman is not only a great team leader, but also a really good teammate as well. ”

On his favorite moment from the day: “I think one of the most outstanding moments for me yesterday, and every time I have been on campus for a game, is pregame when the entire team and staff walks from the church to the field across campus, and they are all dressed up and laser focused. It’s powerful to see everyone cheering for them across campus. I grew up going to a Catholic school and my faith is very important to me. I love that they start each game by praying together and centering themselves.”

On any potential leaders in his recruitment: “I have been fortunate to visit many campuses and have attended a variety of camps, and each experience is unique to that particular school. My favorites right now, in no particular order, are Notre Dame, Michigan, Auburn and Ole Miss. I also really like Tennessee and would love to visit Oklahoma.”

On what a Notre Dame offer would mean: “Notre Dame is a special place and it’s definitely one my favorite schools right now. I can see myself fitting in there very well with their culture and program. It would mean a lot to receive an offer from Notre Dame and I would be honored to be able to experience their traditions on and off the field. To be able to play the game that I love and have great academics at the same time would be a game changer for my future.”
